
The mission of the Kendall County Fair Association Inc., as a nonprofit corporation, is to encourage and promote agricultural, horticultural and livestock education and related industrial interests of the citizens of Kendall and surrounding Counties.
As a federally designated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, KCFA has four parts to its mission:
- to promote agricultural education, leadership and agricultural entrepreneurship,
- to encourage and recognize the achievement of youth in agricultural, horticultural and livestock management as they also encourage youth academic achievement and leadership experiences,
- to promote the involvement of women in business, nutrition and home based businesses and
- to encouraging agricultural, horticultural and livestock related industries toward positive rural economic development within the whole of the Hill Country community.
The programs sponsored by KCFA
- Help bring our community together, support our rural life and teach others vital information about agriculture and other rural industries
- Play a vital roll in the economic development of many other nonprofits, civic and charitable organizations within the greater Hill Country area.
The KCFA owns 56 acres of beautifully maintained oak studded land. The buildings and facilities, as part of the KCFA mission, are utilized for the Kendall County Fair, the KCFA Live Stock Show, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Boy Scout Associations and various agricultural shows, education events and youth organizations, civic groups, other nonprofits and by the general public.
Community Facilities Program
KCFA rents facilities at low or no cost to the Kendall County Junior Livestock Association, the 4-H Horse Club, Cub Scouts of America, Boerne Public Library and many other charitable and civic organizations. Three event halls are available for rent, a large outdoor pavilion, a large arena with seating for over 1500. Any of these facilities alone or as a whole can be rented for your event, whether it is for public or private use.
Youth Agricultural Program & Livestock Shows
As the pride of our mission, KCFA continues to provide educational activities and competitions in the area of animal husbandry, livestock management and agricultural education to 100's of youth each year.
The KCFA Youth Agricultural Programs currently include:
- Sponsorship of the KCFA Annual Labor Day Livestock Show to promote youth agricultural education through youth participation in agricultural projects.
- Providing for the sponsorship of livestock projects for area youth who are underprivileged or at-risk youth, and those with physical, mental, social or emotional challenges that help to promote youth leadership, responsibility and empowerment for area youth with special needs.
- Providing scholarships and awards for youth who demonstrate an interest and excel in agricultural projects that will enhance their higher education goals.
Women's Auxiliary of KCFA
As an integral part of its mission, KCFA is supported by the Women's Auxiliary of the Kendall County Fair Association Inc. This group of civic minded women provides fundraising assistance toward all the KCFA programs as they promote women in business and entrepreneurship through their annual handcrafted Oma's Christmas Crafts Fair.
Homestead Heritage Exhibit Program
KCFA encourages the enhancement of agricultural programs by sponsoring competitions and exhibits of agricultural products, art works, quilting, antiques, hand made traditional crafts, baking and much more. Individuals of all ages are able to compete for prizes and awards that encourage entrepreneurship in the agricultural industry, home craft products and in the culinary industry.
Queens Court Leadership Program
Young ladies are provided with leadership and community service training through our Queens Court competition. Local participants apply for a position on the Court by exemplifying their academic prowess, poise, positive attitude, personality and talents. After being chosen for the Court they represent KCFA at many occasions locally and through out the state as they learn the value of good leadership, community service, academic excellence and positive attitude. Upon graduation from high school, each participant is provided with a scholarship to the college of their choice.
