Director Candidate Information
Application and Election Process
Applications for the Board of Directors are accepted throughout the fiscal year; however, applications are not carried over. A new application must be submitted for each fiscal year.
Candidates will be considered based on their demonstrated commitment to promoting and improving the Kendall County Fair Association, Inc. and the Kendall County Fair.
If a vacancy occurs, a director may be elected by a two-thirds majority vote of the current Board at any regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Individuals appointed in this manner will serve the remainder of the unexpired term.
Each October, seven (7) directors are elected by the membership at the Annual General Membership Meeting. Directors whose terms are expiring will be contacted by the Nominating Committee to determine their interest in serving an additional three-year term. Those who wish to continue will be placed on the ballot along with other qualified candidates identified by the committee.
Eligibility and Requirements
All candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a properly registered member of the Association for at least 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting
- Successfully complete a background check
- Submit a completed Application for Board of Directors
- Submit the application at least one week prior to the Annual Meeting to be included on the ballot (If a candidate has submitted an application during the fiscal year but was not elected prior to the Annual Meeting, the Nominating Committee may contact them regarding placement on the ballot.)
- Directors elected at the Annual Meeting will serve a three (3) year term.
Resignation and Removal
In accordance with Article IV – Directors and Meetings, Section I
Any director who resigns during their term must wait a minimum of one (1) year before being eligible for re-election, either by the general membership or by Board appointment.
Any director removed by the Board for a violation or other cause is not eligible for re-election at the Annual Membership Meeting or by Board appointment. Additionally, a removed director may not be considered for a Drover position by the Board of Directors.
