Think you’ve got the freshest egg in the flock? Put it to the test! The 9th Annual Egg Content Contest gives youth and adults the opportunity to showcase the quality of their eggs. Each egg will be cracked open and judged on the color, shape, and form of the yolk and albumin, as well as the freshness and visibility of the egg’s internal structure. Pick your freshest egg and see how it stands up against the competition!

Admission to the Kendall County Fair is required to participate in the contest.

Contest Details

• Date: Saturday, September 5, 2026
• Contest Begins: 2:00 p.m.
• Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall

Entry Information

• Entry Fee: $2.00 per registrant/entry form
• The $2.00 fee is paid per registration form, not per egg.
• Each exhibitor may enter one entry in each selected class.
• Contestants must complete an official Exhibitor Entry Form.
• Entry forms may be mailed prior to the contest or submitted with the egg entry on the day of the contest.
• Eggs must be delivered to the registration table in the Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall between 1:00 P.M. and 1:45 P.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
• No entries will be accepted after 1:45 P.M.
• Entered eggs will be placed on a plate marked with the exhibitor’s assigned number for judging.

Egg & Age Categories

Bantam

• Youth — Age 7 & Under
• Youth — Ages 8–12
• Teen — Ages 13–17
• Adult — Open Class

Standard

• • Youth — Age 7 & Under
  • Youth — Ages 8–12
  • Teen — Ages 13–17
  • Adult — Open Class

Contest Rules

• All contestants must complete an official Exhibitor Entry Form.
• Each exhibitor must pay a $2.00 entry fee per registration form. Do not pay per egg.
• Exhibitors may enter both the Bantam and Standard classes, with one entry per selected age category.
• All egg entries must be brought to the registration table in the Homestead Heritage Exhibit Hall between 1:00 P.M. and 1:45 P.M. on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
• No entries will be accepted at any other time.
• Each entered egg will be placed on a plate marked with the exhibitor’s assigned number for judging.
• Eggs will be cracked open and evaluated by the judges.
• Judging will be based on the color, shape, and form of the yolk and albumin, as well as the freshness and visibility of the egg’s internal structure.
• Admission to the Kendall County Fair is required for participation in the contest.

Awards

Best Overall Egg Awards

Rosettes will be awarded for the Best Overall Entry in each category:

• • Best Bantam Egg — 4 Awards
  • Best Standard Egg — 4 Awards

Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the contest, followed by a picture session featuring group and individual winners.
