Queen's Court

Previous Winners

The Kendall County Fair Association has proudly served and promoted its programs throughout Kendall County and the surrounding communities for generations. Since 1949, the Queen’s Court has stood as a lasting symbol of that commitment—representing KCFA with grace while helping bring visibility, tradition, and excitement to our events.

The tradition began in 1949, when five young women competed for the very first Miss Kendall County title. Community members cast their votes by placing pennies in jars at local businesses—each penny counting as a vote. The candidates included Bonnie Lee Kemp, Barbara Massey, Joan Cunningham, Lorriane Esser, and Ikey Hartz, with Bonnie Lee Kemp earning the honor as the first queen.

In the years that followed, the selection process evolved. The second queen, Lorriane Martin, was chosen by a committee of Directors and their wives—a method that continued until the 1960s, when the process transitioned to a panel of judges, as it remains today. Traditionally, the Queen was crowned at a formal February dance and presented with a red robe, scepter, and roses.

Over time, the Queen’s Court has grown to reflect the expanding involvement of the community, with the addition of a Duchess in 1979, Little Miss in 2000, and Jr. Miss in 2017.

We invite you to explore the rich history and lasting legacy of the Queen’s Court, and to recognize the countless hours of dedication these remarkable individuals have given in bringing joy and tradition to our community.
